First details about National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week now available



National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week is held annually in September, and is a worldwide effort to bring together people who live with invisible chronic illness, and those who love them. This year it's September 8-14, 2008.

Planning of four telephone seminars Sept 8-12 (M-F) where you can call in to listen and talk to the presenter are currently in the process.

Last year I was a presenter. My topic was "Blogging About Your Illness." It was a great experience, and there was a whole lot of worthwhile information available at the other presentations. I'll keep you posted on updates for this year's events as they develop.

    Hello Sherril, I just came upon your blog through a search. Thank you very much for your much needed informative blog. I too suffer from FM, TMJ, IBS,IC, Hashymoto's, Neuropathy, carpal tunnel, planters facia, borderline diabitic, Sleep Apnea, Asthma, severe skin disorder/infections, .....
    My daughter has auto immune hives, my neice has lupus....
    Rest Ministries has ministered to me when no one else could. I have been an advocate in my area for National Invisible Chronci Illness Awareness Week.
    I started my blog a month ago to minister to those in need. I have been truly blessed by the many who have encouraged me from all over the world. The blogging world is amazing!

Herniated cervical disc - Oh my!

A couple of blog posts ago I mentioned the results of recent MRIs of my neck and brain ( What do The Tough do when they get ANOTHER ICI diagnosis (or two*) ? ). Last month I had an appointment with a spine specialist to see what might be done about the herniated cervical disc diagnosis that was made from the MRI of my neck. This doctor seemed like a nice guy, and after about 10 minutes and $280 he had me convinced that my next step should be to have the herniated disc replaced with an artificial one. He started rattling off information after we exchanged pleasantries; lucky for me I knew to have pen and paper handy, and I can translate rattle into scribble pretty well. To his credit, he used mostly words that I could understand, or at least spell. He did a short exam on my hands and arms and said good - no loss of strength. Nerve Damage on the Vaginal Cuff After Total Hysterectomy
